I am thinking of moving to Seattle from Lubbock TX. What should i expect from Seattle? |
Travel Info I am interested in prices of apartments and homes. and general living conditions. And in good colleges in the area. Travel Tips Honestly, studies do show that Seattle gets less rain than most east coast cities, but we do have more cloudy days per year. Seattle is honestly a beautiful city and the Pacific NW in general is beautiful. As already said, Seattle is very liberal in politics, the suburbs are more Republican. Downtown is very nice too and there is tons of shopping and things to see and do. Nice restaurants are downtown also. Also, prepare to see Starbucks and coffee shops all over the place. Ranked Fittest City of 2005. House prices in Seattle are getting ridiculous and apartments and condos downtown are extremely expensive. The University of Washington is a pretty good school. I suggest you go to the site below (Wikipedia) for more information. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/university_... There also is Seattle Pacific University and Seattle University. Source(s): I live in Seattle Other Travel Tips bad weather, rain forests bad bad bad! You should never leave Texas! You know no place else can compare! :) Plus it rains all the time in Seattle! rain rain rain. though i cant blame you. Lubbock and Amarillo smell like cow dung. though, i suggest that u take it to houston. Rice University!!! In Seattle is very expensive. It is a very nice healthy city, but very expensive. People are little more laid back in the Northwest. University of Washington is Ok i guess. Traffic is awful too. The University of Washington is an excellent school, but tough to get into. There are other good schools in the immediate region, too. Homes are quite expensive, MUCH more so than in Texas, but there are plenty of apartments. King county is VERY Liberal politically, especially as compared with Lubbock, TX. Seattle is very gorgeous geographically, with two mountain ranges, Puget Sound, Lake Washington, and Mt ranier all visible from downtown. The entire NW region is filled to the gills with primo outdoor activities. Seattle has very rainy winters, but rather nice summers, and almost never gets very hot or very cold, either. It will seem very different from Texas (semi-socialist attitudes often prevail), but is still a rather nice place to live, if expensive. |
