I am wanting to move to Seattle washington. What is the best/most affordable area for living? |
Travel Info Moving to seattle in the summer need as much info as possible. Please help! Thanks Travel Tips some strong advice from a native Seattleite (that's what we're called here) ... live somewhere close by to work, and explore the greater Seattle area on the weekends/evenings. don't spend too much time commuting everyday, especially from the north or east sides of the city. some suggestions, based on your your life requirements / preferences: if you ... then look into ... want to immerse yourself in the Seattle "culture" ... the popular city neighborhoods of Queen Anne, Freemont, Madison Valley / Madison Park (i used to live here) or Greenlake want to live downtown amidst all the club / restaurant action ... Belltown is the neighborhood for 24/7 action (plusses and minuses that you must tolerate - think illegal activity) can tolerate "diversity" and the occasional transient ... capitol hill is an affordable, diverse neighborhood (gay/lesbian, college, arts, and boutique shopping and restaurants) have / will have children and don't want to pay for private school ... definitely live on the eastside, preferably within the Lake Washington school district (highly rated). this includes the cities of Kirkland, Redmond and Sammamish. homes are a bit more expensive here because the education is excellent and this is where Microsoft lives. will be working downtown and are on a serious budget, you may want to take the bus into the city... Northgate is an affordable neighborhood about 10 mins (without traffic) from downtown and the freeway express lanes and multiple bus lines make commuting very easy (i used to live here also) want a beautiful view of the Seattle skyline ... the Alki Beach neighborhood of West Seattle is incomparable (but pricey). great place for weekend runs and summer people watching. if you share more of what you're looking for, i'd be happy to make a detailed suggestion and answer any other questions that you may have in mind. good luck! you'll really like it here in Seattle ... the 3 months of summer make the 9 months of drizzle well worth the wait :) Source(s): seattle native Other Travel Tips Redmond, (that is where i lived for 8 years.) it is covered in tree's. fun place!!!!!!! South of Seattle check out Kent, Auburn and Des Moines area. North of Seattle look at Greenlake, Shoreline and Lake Forest Park area. Snohomish county has Mountlake Terrace, Lynnwood, Edmonds and Everett which are a good value. Everything east in Bellevue, Redmond, Kirkland, Mercer Island, Bothell, Woodinville is overpriced. Everything in the city is high priced but I like the Ballard area for a fixer upper. I live in the Burien area. http://seattle.craigslist.org/hhh/... Do you want to live in the Seattle "Area" or right in Seattle? If you want to live in Seattle definately check out Craigslist for the neighborhoods of Capitol Hill, First Hill, Queen Anne, Fremont, and West Seattle. These are all great neighborhoods with easy access to downtown and with lots of reasonable places to live. I live in Capitol Hill and its a great place with lots of diversity and great restaurants/shops and a quick walk or bike ride downtown. I live here. Ok, well I live in Bellevue - it's just 30 minutes away and it's ver nice here, clean-safe-lighted...everythin... you can think of. If you have children, then you better come here. The City of Bellevue provides so many youth activities for all youth in Bellevue. I am part of a youth volunteer program that helps out the community with service hours. it's green, fresh. You are gonna love it here :) |
