It is true that it is not mandatory to tip Singapore's taxi drivers. However, I make sure that I tip in one particular instance: When I take a taxi from the airport and the fare is less than S$15. Why? the poor taxi driver probably waited for (at least) an hour before picking me up. To let him make less than US$15 for the one hour break makes me feel like a crook. I normally will round up to S$15 in this case. For other situations, rounding up to the next dollar will generally for your fare will get you a BIG BIG smile and THANK YOU for the taxi driver, so do it if you can!
