What happens if I'm under 18 and get a traffic warning from the police?Do they notify my parents?What happens? |
Travel Info I got a traffic warning last night, and I want to know what will happen, if they will tell my parents-like call them, of mail them or what? Please answer soon!!! Travel Tips If the Officer did not take any of your personal information then nothing will probably happen. If it was a written warning then there is a chance that your parents could find out. What was the situation? Did you make an honest mistake? If your warning was written you might want to "fess up" to your parents now. You can tell them you learned your lesson and will not speed/run a light/whatever you did again. It would be better coming from you than if they get the mail. Personally I don't think they will find out, but I feel honesty is the best policy. Another thing is that cops are quite often really nice and just want you to be safe. Good luck to you! Remember that your parents were young once too. :) PART TWO - I just received your note that the officer took your license back to his car. I bet they just ran your information, saw that you have no warrents against you, that you probably have nothing on your record and decided to just give you a warning. I don't think your parents will find out but the cop probably wants to scare you into "being good." I would bet that you have been driving safer since you were pulled over and that is part of what they are trying to do which is change driving behavior. Good luck and thank you for your answer to my question. :) Others when i was 16 i got a ticket for going 75 in a 55. my parents found out only cuz i told them... if it was just a WARNING and NO ticket was issued u have nothing to worry about. One of the nice things that is common sense is that that the police are just too busy to follow up on something like a traffic warning. It simply is really never done especially in the St Louis area. So stay calm. Learn from any mistake and it will make you a much better driver. Once nice thing to know, the fact that a police officer gave you a warning says something very good about you as a person. Your personality, your demeanour, your attitude has to be that you are a really nice person, humble and honest. The officer saw that and realized that a warning was sufficient. Congratulations. Stay nice and stay happy. The simple answer of course is that police do not notify parents. You are the driver, the dealings are between you the legal driver and the officer, period. |
