Opinions of St. Louis??

I plan on moving to St Louis, and wanted to know more about the city. Are the people generally friendly? Is the city fun for a 20 something single guy or is it boring (and yes I know theres 3 main sports teams, I'm talking about the bar scene, etc). What parts of STL are good to live for singles? Is the town more family oriented? Thanks for your help!

Travel Tips

I agree with the guy above, if you are single you should consider Central West End (Washington University area). However, depending on how much money you have, Clayton is the place to be. It is the place to be seen, and there are more upscale bars (try J Bucks for one). Hard to live there cheaply. U. City is close by.

Oh, and if you like eclectic, the Shaw neighborhood is great (by the Botanical Gardens). However, it's a little iffy at night. The South Grand area near there has lots of good, ethnic restaurants.

I've always lived in Missouri near St. louis and in St. louis part of my life. Some comments I've heard about StL. voted friendliest drivers in US, also at one time had highest murder rate (maybe 2003 or 2004) per capita. Its a fairly friendlly city. There is a diverse population, a lot of very poor people and a lot of very rich people. There is not a ton of culture. There is plenty of sports except maybe basketball. I tend to feel there are a lot of drunks in StL perhaps because of the Anheiser Busch brewery. I'd live near Washington University/Forest Park area.
