Sorry to say, even though in general Taiwanese are not mean or cold, but they seem to be friendly to whites and unfriendly to "colors." Learning Chinese is a must. Just for your convinence. Life in Taiwan could be very challenging if you do not understand the language (but that's an obvious fact in any foreign culture) coz most of taiwanese aren't good in English. Depends on where you'll be, it's more expensive in Taipei but u'll have more selection/options. Overall speaking it's not that expensive to live in Taiwan. Taiwanese people are friendly, it's not hard to make friends and to get help if you need it. The traffic and the way people drive might terrify you. |
