What's the most interesting city to visit, outside Taipei? |
Travel Info I would especially be interested in viewing cultural sites. Travel Tips I will suggest Tainan. It is about 4-5 hours from Taipei by train or bus. It also has local domestic flight in 40min and US48 one way. Tainan is a ancient city built about 300 years ago. The historic spot there include multiple culture. Taiwan had been a colony by Netherlands and the main city was Tainan at that time. Tainan also has many different kinds of great triditional food. I think you will love Tainan. It's 3 or 4 hours from Taipei and does have some cultural sites (including from aboriginal culture), natural beauty, and good food. I agree with the other 2 answers... You can't really go wrong in Taiwan if you're looking for cultural sites... and/or food! I'll throw another one in... because it is close to Taipei and easy to get to (and cheap). Jiufen. But I must add a caution... this little town is great... but has been overrun by the "tourism" trade in recent years. If you go on a weekday, you'll still catch this town's charm. DO NOT GO ON A WEEKEND.
