Travel Info Do I need a passport or other ID to enter Canada if traveling from the US? Travel Tips I live in Seattle, and make Frequent trips 3 hours north to Vancouver Canada. You do NOT need a passport to cross the border if you are a US citizen and have a valid drivers license to show them. However, they do prefer if you have a passport. If you do not have a passport, I recommend brining your license and possibly your birth certificate. Although, I have gone to Canada and back many times over the past few years with only my license. Others Yes you need an ID and the approximate length of stay. You will need the ID to get back in the US.
