What is the salary range of a travel agent?

Travel Tips
Actually, the base salary for travel agents can be as little as 17 000 a year, plus commission. Most leisure travel agents will make anywhere from 18 to 30 grand a year plus commission. Both salary and commission amounts depend mostly on experience and the company you work for.

Business Travel Agents usually have a set salary ranging from 24 to 38 thousand a year.

There are exceptions. Generally, the more experienced you are, or if you are specialized (international or exotic travel for ex.), the more you make.

Benefits such as free or discounted trips are a plus, but there have been major cutbacks and they're few and far between.

Others
Travel agents make very little, but they get to buy trips at big discounts. Most travel agents will tell you they are in the business for the travel benefits because they certainly don't make any money these days.
